The Prophet Elijah is a very well-known Old Testament figure. But what is rarely focused on are his ups and downs, mountaintop to valley of despair. Even in his darkest moments, Elijah still honored the Lord God with what faith he had. His powerful story teaches us today on how to live and pray, how to handle victories and what seems like failures, and to thank God for not answering our foolish prayers made out of desperation when our eyes are only on ourselves and our problems, not the Lord. We are reminded that Jesus is always ready to pick us up from the pit of despair!
