All This For You and Me

During the Last Supper, Jesus shared a very tender and personal moment with Simon Peter. Luke 22:31) “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32) but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Do you not feel that sometimes Satan is trying to steal, kill, and destroy you (John 10:10)? There are times that we do not believe that we can go on one more moment. It is too hard. The pressure is too intense. Yet we want to please our Lord. Just like Peter saying he was ready to die for Jesus (v. 33). What we may interpret as boastful pride, in that we would never do “such and such,” Jesus saw Peter’s heart and recognized his intent. Praise the Lord! We are not doomed to a life of failure and defeat because of our new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Just like Simon Peter, we make mistakes and subsequently need to repent and turn back to Christ and He welcomes us with open arms. Jesus understands our struggles because He was tempted (Lk. 4:1-13), suffered hardships (Lk. 9:58), felt sorrow (Lk. 19:41), and went through intense agony (Lk. 22:44). All of this for you and me! What a Magnificent Savior we have.

Why not reflect this evening on the price that was paid for your salvation?
